Abandoned NC&STL Railway
Route Between Memphis, Jackson & Bruceton
Clay Station - Milepost ONI 214.0
A destroyed passenger car was ruined by the vandalism. Photo
by Clifton Wilmsmeyr on
April 14, 2005. "That car (and about seven others) were
moved off Memphis
Transportation Museum's storage site at the Defense Depot
about 1995/96. (Several
of the cars are parked in downtown Collierville now.) The
car stored by CSX at Cordova
was a 54-seat coach, ex-Amtrak #5442, exx-RF&P #812. MTM
didn't have a place to
put it, so it authorized CSX to sell the car for scrap several
years ago. Rather than
haul the car off the line, the RR hired a scrapper to cut
it up on site."

"Clay shows at milepost 214 with Cordova
at 213. The profile sheet shows 4 section houses at (213.2 south
side of main) and the siding I called Clay starting at 213.0 and
running on the south side of the main to about 214.4. It was a long
siding." Terry L. Coats
